Loneliness or Freedom

Loneliness or Freedom works across a heavily textured white ground, built up with acrylic to create a surface that holds light unevenly, lending the work a quiet physical presence. A loose diagonal chain of rotated squares moves across the composition, some rendered as bare pencil or charcoal outlines, others filled with muted teal, pale yellow, and soft blue-green. The contrast between the empty forms and the colour-filled ones creates a sense of tension between absence and weight.
