Walking On the Way
Walking on the Way, 2022, 12”x16”
As you start to walk on the way… the way appears.
- Rumi
Following what delights me feels selfish at times. It can be scary to just continue on when there is no trail ahead. But it is the path of an Artist to be pulled along by those sparks of curiosity.
I often feel pulled in many directions and yet that all seems to clear when I take a step. The first step towards one spark. It is like a declaration - this is the journey I choose. The succession of steps appearing may be reassuring but the fear is still there, the uncertainty, the not knowing. Doubt never deserts me but neither does that spark, the curiosity, the wonder. So I continue walking, slowly or quickly, I keep going.
